Albert T. Reid was born on August 12, 1873 at Concordia (Cloud County), Kansas. Reid studied at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, as well as the Art Students League and the New York School of Art. Reid's early professional experiences as an artist and illustrator include service at the Kansas City Star, 1897-1899; the Chicago Record, 1899; the New York Herald, 1899-1900; and magazines, including the Saturday Evening Post, from 1901-1902.
